A Plan for Your Next ChapterYour movement. Your routine. Your goals.
A Plan Built Around You
The Right Combination for Your Recovery
Your physical therapy plan begins with an evaluation of your movement, function, and priorities. We consider your history, daily activities, and relevant medical instructions before recommending treatment.
Care may combine hands-on techniques, exercise, movement practice, education, and selected modalities. You will not necessarily receive every treatment listed below. Your therapist explains the approach and adjusts it according to your needs and response.
Our Treatment Approaches
Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation
Explore the approaches that may be included in your care. Each is selected and adapted by your therapist after your evaluation.
Manual Therapy & Joint Mobilization
Hands-on treatment selected by your therapist to address movement and comfort concerns. Joint mobilization involves guided movement of a joint; other manual techniques may address surrounding soft tissues. The techniques used depend on your evaluation, treatment goals, and relevant precautions.
How It Fits Into Care
Support comfortable joint and soft-tissue movement
Complement exercise and functional rehabilitation
Therapeutic Exercises
A personalized program of movement and exercise based on the limitations identified during your evaluation. Activities may address strength, endurance, flexibility, or movement control. Your therapist explains each activity and adjusts the program as your abilities and needs change.
How It Fits Into Care
Build physical abilities needed for your goals
Provide guided progression and home practice when appropriate
Neuromuscular Re-Education
Activities that focus on how you control and coordinate movement. Your therapist may use guided practice, cues, and feedback to address movement patterns, body awareness, balance, and muscle control relevant to your daily activities.
How It Fits Into Care
Develop movement control and body awareness
Practice coordinated movement for everyday tasks
Therapeutic Activities
Functional movement practice connected to the tasks you want to perform. Activities may involve reaching, lifting, carrying, changing position, or other movements appropriate to your plan. Your therapist selects and progresses tasks according to your evaluation and relevant restrictions.
How It Fits Into Care
Connect rehabilitation with daily and work activities
Build useful movement skills through task practice
Balance & Coordination Training
Individualized activities that address steadiness, body control, and coordinated movement. Your therapist considers the situations that feel challenging and selects activities appropriate to your starting point. Support, supervision, and task difficulty are adjusted to your needs.
How It Fits Into Care
Practice control during standing and movement
Support confidence with relevant everyday activities
Gait & Mobility Training
Guided practice with walking and getting from one position or place to another. Depending on your needs, care may involve walking patterns, stairs, transitions, or the use of a prescribed assistive device. Your therapist considers your abilities and medical instructions when selecting activities.
How It Fits Into Care
Work toward useful walking and mobility skills
Practice movement needed at home, work, or in the community
Range-of-Motion & Flexibility Exercises
Movement and flexibility activities selected to address stiffness and limitations in available motion. Your therapist considers the affected area, your comfort, and any medical or surgical restrictions. Exercises are individualized rather than based on a single stretching routine for every patient.
How It Fits Into Care
Work toward motion needed for everyday activities
Address flexibility within your individual care plan
Strengthening & Conditioning
Progressive exercise to develop strength and activity tolerance. Your program may use body weight, resistance, or other appropriate equipment, with the type and level of activity matched to your needs. Functional goals help guide how the program progresses.
How It Fits Into Care
Develop strength for daily tasks and recreation
Build tolerance for activity at an appropriate pace
Posture & Body Mechanics Training
Practical guidance and movement practice related to positions and tasks in your routine. We discuss how you sit, stand, reach, bend, or lift and explore strategies appropriate to your needs. The focus is useful movement options rather than one rigid posture for every activity.
How It Fits Into Care
Improve awareness of positions and task demands
Practice movement strategies for home and work
Electrical Stimulation & Hot/Cold Therapy
When Appropriate
When appropriate, your therapist may include electrical stimulation or hot/cold therapy as part of your plan. Electrical stimulation uses controlled electrical impulses; heat or cold may be used for symptom management. Selection depends on your evaluation, medical history, skin and sensation considerations, and other relevant precautions.
How It Fits Into Care
Support symptom management or muscle activation when indicated
Complement an individualized rehabilitation program
Used only when appropriate to your needs. Tell your therapist about implanted devices, changes in sensation, skin concerns, and relevant medical conditions before treatment.
